It is well worth configuring the two express with static IP. but consistent operation is more important for now. I recommend for now you go back to 7.6.9 or even 7.6.8 until you resolve this. We have definitely seen a lot of issues with 7.8 firmware in the Airport Express. And they may not be particularly good at handling bonjour which is vital concern in this setup. When airport express is connected to WNDR4300v2, then it shows up in the WNDR4000 main attached devices as a wired device, since the WNDR4300v2 is wired to the WNDR4000 - so all devices wirelessly connected to the WNDR4300v2 appear as hardwired on the main WNDR4000.ĭid you upgrade firmware on either of the Netgear routers? They are both fairly old. Only resolution is to power off the WNDR4300v2 and force wifi connection to main router. If either device connects to the WNDR4300v2, then it cannot be seen by the airport utility nor iTunes. Living Room, 802.11n 1st Generation, Version 7.6.9 Kitchen, 802.11n 2nd Generation, Version 7.8 There are two airport express that wifi connect to my SSID: It is in access point mode and broadcasts the same SSID (channel 9) and uses the same password as the main router. The second router is a WNDR4300v2 firmware V1.0.0.56 (latest). This router broadcasts wifi SSID (channel 3) and uses a password. My main router is a netgear WNDR4000 firmware V1.0.2.10_9.1.89 (latest) This is the DHCP LAN server and is modem connected to WAN. There are a couple of things we can suggest that might help but if possible we want to figure out the cause. Once they get lost open a terminal and ping them to make sure they are still responding. if so keep track of how long it keeps working before it disappears again. Immediately check if iTunes can now see the Express. they are a client but can take over as bonjour sleep proxy. Modem, main router, WAP router, Airport Expresses (can be all started) and Apple TV. and at least the Mac that is the problem. that is part of the network including Apple TV. and to do this properly you really need to shut off everything. What happens if you reboot the entire network. firmware on the routers? ISP setup? OS upgrade on the Mac? Can you connect a change you made to this getting messed up? I guess this is the most interesting part. Up until recently this has not been an issue, but now iTunes on my hard wired computer cannot see any of the apple devices that are wifi connected to this access point. What model and firmware are the expresses? What make and model is your second router used for access point?
